Oregonian: Cascadia earthquake, tsunami could cost Oregon economy $32 billion

January 26, 2013 marks the 313th anniversary of the great Cascadia Earthquake of 1700. A 620-mile stretch of coastline from Northern California, all of Oregon and Washington to Southern British Columbia was involved. Multiple tsunami waves impacted our coastline about 30 minutes later, reaching heights of 20 to 30 feet, destroying everything in their paths for great distances inland. Tsunami waves even impacted Japan some 10 to 15 hours later with up to ten-foot waves destroying many villages without notice.
